“Amazing tire, it handles almost every situation well. When I tried them for the first time my first impression was, that these tires are too comfy to perform, well I was wrong, it is impressive how well they handle in the dry, and the wet. they do the job well, but I have tried better ( f1 asymmetric) they wear quite quickly but that is expected for this kind of tire.

there is a humming in some roads, that will remind you this is not a tire made for comfort, this humming started after 5k miles when the tire started to wear.

Now I’m changing tires and I will try the new f1 asymmetric 2s let’s see what happens..”Review-1

“From a strictly performance-based review, tires have been exemplary.

It is an almost perfect combination of grip in the dry and wet, ride comfort, and low noise.

Tyre wear has been, OK. Front tires have reached the end of their life however the rears are still on around 5mm tread.

The bigger concern is the visible perishing and cracking around the shoulder of all 4 tires. This is visible on the edge and between the outside tread blocks.

In heavy rain, the tires seemed a little susceptible to straight-line aquaplaning. However, in ‘normal’ wet conditions, the grip is good, and braking is confidence-inspiring.

Would I buy these again? The perishing/cracking around the outsides has put me off. My wife’s car has Michelin Primacy 4 tires and they too have perished quite noticeably.

The PS4S on my car is about to be replaced with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6’s.”Review1

“The Continental ExtremeContact Sports is a great tire if you want something that will give you great road feel, highway driveability, and wear that won’t cause you to look twice and the manufacture date code. I should note that I do not do track driving, just long-distance drives and canyon carving.

It’s a great tire that holds its own to the MPSS without the cost. I am not an expert driver, so most things I have thrown at these tires have been shrugged off. Even at the limit, the tires broke gradually and allowed me to keep the car under control.

I have had my current set of tires for just under 2 years now and I am going to need replacements soon (5k miles /year). Even though there is a decent amount of tread left, it looks like the rubber might be near the end of its number of heat cycles.

I did not think I would get to this point with a summer tire that can do some rain driving as well, so I am pleased with them. Are there better tires out there? Of course, but for a tire that’s going to be used for off-track driving, it’s a fantastic choice if you don’t want to drop the cash for some Michelins (especially if you know you aren’t going to max them out anyway).”Review

“I purchased a set of four 205/50R17 Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 tires during the lockdown last month. After researching the tires that I wanted and the prices, I found that Hyper’s prices are very competitive, their processing of my order was ultra prompt, and they shipped to my address (out of Auckland) fast, despite the difficulties with COVID at that time. I will not hesitate to buy my next wet 20-inch tires from Hyper, all the more so when they have a great sale. I am a very happy customer and recommend Hyper without reservation!”Howard

“These tires were supplied as OE for the Mazda MX-5 ND 1.5. They still have 3mm tread at 23,000m, wear has been equalized by occasional rotation. They seem to be optimal for the MX-5 with great dry balance and plenty of dry grip. What the absolute performance is in the wet I couldn’t say, it’s a summer car and I always drive in poor conditions, but I have never had any surprises on wet roads.

Steering and turn-in are consistent and sharp, I like the feel and have loved driving the car for the last 6 years. This might be the best tire for this car, certainly for fair-weather use. The sidewalls are very stiff which presumably accounts for the agile feel of the steering. There are few ‘sporty’ tires available in this size and rather than go for a premium touring tire from Goodyear/Michelin/Continental, which might perform better on measurements overall, I have chosen to fit the same tires again.

Subjectively the tires are quite noisy, and riding at low speed can be jiggly – not important for me in this application. I’m glad they are still available. The V105 has reportedly been replaced by the V107 but that does not seem to be available in 196/50R6.” review

“I drive my EVO X about 23000 km/year / for 7 years – mainly on civilian roads. When buying, Michelin Super Sport was assumed, but they did not give me a sense of confidence in the arches and quickly clashed – after 1 season.

Next came The Goodyear Eagle f1 asymmetric 3 or 4 (I don’t remember) and these drove a little better, but they clashed after about 1.5 seasons. Looking further for the right footwear I bought Dunlop SportMaxx RT. It was a shot in the 10.

On the rest, I could enjoy the ride I liked. While driving on a curve, I felt perfectly the moment of tire slip. Regardless of whether on dry or wet surfaces, the car listened and did what I expected. Tires are durable for 2.5 seasons. I currently have a Dunlop SportMaxx RT2.

They seem a bit softer than their predecessors, which further boosts the feeling of stability when driving >200km / h, and look insane! They are already finishing season 2 and will go half more. I fell in love with these tires. Recommend”Review1

“Star driving those tires for more than 4 years and 23500km, it is time to change them. So far I was very happy with them and they did not surprise me in terms of handling, etc.

As I live in a tropical country, rubber is shot after 4 years with the tire showing cracks on sideways, rolling area, etc. It is common here for all brands (Dunlop, Michelin, Continental, etc.) When I changed them, the wear was minimal, still not of meat on them.

I was quite surprised. In terms of driving quality, over year it decreased: Handling and breaking were still good but not as good as before Noise and comfort decreased, mostly due to the rubber becoming harder for the weather conditions.

When I replaced them, I would have taken them again if I didn’t have a good deal of some more grippy tires. I still recommend them as they did a good job in all situations”Helpful 21

“I ran 265/35zr20, 315/35zr20 on a 2019 Camaro SS with NT555 G2s which needed to warm up on such a light car if you throttled it, but that is to be expected. Traded for 09 Bentley Flying Spur Speed for the wife since the SS was too loud.

I run the 285/35zr20 104W all around on this cruise missile and because of the weight, no wheel spin, just a wheel drive launch. Yes for you gearheads like me, a 200-mile-an-hour car should have Y-rated tires and w/a 105-weight rating but, I loved the handling so much on the SS, I had to have them on the Bentley.

You just have to keep tire pressure near the max check it with a good gauge and use metal caps. As I suspected these G2s work like magic on the Bentley which has a 20X 9.5 rim which is the max tire for that size, The OEM was 275/35zr20, so FYI they fit with no problems and fill the rim just right IMO.”Leon Houston

Are you seeking tires that can withstand wet weather or offer the best dry grip? Understanding your preferences and requirements can help you narrow down the tire options that best suit your driving style.

3. Tire Size, Fitment, and Speed Rating:

FAQs

Can I use summer tires all year in a warm climate?

While it may be easy to use summer tires all year in warm climates, you should consider the conditions you might face. If your area suffers periodic cooler temperatures or rainfall, it is best to convert to all-season or winter tires to ensure peak performance and safety.

Are summer tires more fuel-efficient than other types of tires?

Summer tires have lower rolling resistance than winter or all-season tires, which can lead to fuel efficiency benefits. Summer tires have more grip and less tread depth, which reduces rolling resistance and increases fuel economy.

Do summer tires wear out more quickly than other tire types?

Summer tires may wear out faster than all-season or winter tires due to their softer rubber formula for increased grip. However, any tire’s durability is ultimately determined by a variety of factors, including driving behavior, road conditions, and regular maintenance.

How do I know when to replace my summer tires?

Check for worn or uneven tread, sidewall cracks, or bulges/blisters. Replace tires after 5-6 seasons.

How do summer tires perform in wet conditions?

Summer tires evacuate water effectively for excellent wet traction and hydroplaning resistance.
