“I purchased a set in 2020 for my Seat Leon. The tyres were fitted in April and I was surprised at how good the dry handling and breaking were, compared to the previous all-season tyres I have used (Nokian Weatherproof and Vredestine Quatrac).

Wet handing is fairly predictable, with some oversteer but easy to correct. Where these tires excel is in their snow performance. I live in a village that can only be reached by two roads (that are both hills). I was able to drive the car up the steepest of the 2 hills (with some wheel spin), which was a surprise.

“OK, I got them with the used car that I bought recently. I was surprised by how well they handle dry conditions, I have driven them for 5000 km so far. The tires I got on the car are from the end of 2022, I think they were driven for like 20-25000 km.

Still, all of them have 6.5mm tread depth. Finally, I thought, no more special winter and summer set. But, under the rainy and wet conditions, I noticed dangerous oversteering of the rear end of the car.

I have to say the tires handle well straight aquaplaning, braking, etc, the issue happens when you are taking some curve (eg. You go from a highway to a normal road, taking the long curve) and what I can handle easily at dry conditions, at 50 km/h speed and wet, I would lose rear traction at my rear end.

“I bought these tires to replace my Fuzion Vri which were fantastic for my vehicle…I decided to give these Contis a try after reading the reviews since one of the Fuzion tires got a puncture too close to the sidewall, but all 4 still had about 60 to 70 % tread left. In hindsight, I should have ordered 2 replacement Fuzion tires and kept the new ones with a longer rotation period on the front – would have also cut my spending in half as well.

I believe that there is THE perfect tire tuned to each make and model vehicle – the problem is finding them. I had no hesitation driving through puddles and torrential rain with those Fuzions – an excellent pattern for wet conditions. The new Extreme contact dws06 plus is a bit puzzling. I feel like driving on railway tracks as they seem quite rigid. Interior noise was almost as quiet as my Fuzions.

My biggest gripe is that the manufacturer had to make the rubber softer (to improve the sno grip from the extreme contact dws06 by 11%)…I believe this leads to excessive tire wear unless you’re a Sunday driver 7 Sundays a week. As I have the Michelin X-ice tires for winter months (I believe THAT rubber even feels harder than these new contigs), I don’t need the snow gripping aspect of this tire – so disregard my snow rating above…I try to minimize my driving anyways during winter with this vehicle…as I purchased these contests pretty late this summer.

“8″ width wheels, 4.5 backspacing 16″ with 225 60 16 on my 85 Toyota pickup. Do NOT fit correctly. had to roll out the rear wheel well, and if I am turning and hit a bump I scrape the wheel well(minimal scraping.). 27″ tall is too tall, go with 225 55 16 at 26″ Now the tire, Incredible!!!!!

I got the fitment issues dealt with and these tires are awesome. I use my truck in the rock yard, and gravel roads, loading with 1800lbs(400lbs over truckload range) and the tires hold up great. quiet and roll oh so smooth. when they wear out I will buy another pair. they say they are 25 lbs, I weighed them at 30 lbs.

“I was shopping for a quiet smooth riding tire. The original Goodyear tires on my car lasted 75k miles & were OK but noisy. Went with Big-O next & got 55k miles & they handled so much better than the Goodyears but were still noisy. Got another set of Big-O’s next generation (a step up from the previous set) and wow.

These tires were loud, couldn’t handle wet or light snow at all, and wore completely out (zero tread left and very bad uneven wear bars). Big-O said the struts were bad & caused wear, handling, & noise issues & wanted a small fortune to replace the suspension & tires. I went next door to Ken Towerys & had it all checked. They said all suspension was good & weren’t sure why the tires were so bad.

They had a special on these Yoko’s & the tech assured me that they were good high middle-class tires. Well, I was shocked immediately. My car has never driven so smoothly & quietly, not even new. These tires handle great, cornering, stopping, starting, wet traction, and even descent on snow as long as u drive like it’s snowing. I drive 90% of the Highway & have over 7k on them, the tread still looks new.

“We purchased these tires for our Jeep Renegade to replace the factory-installed Kumho Crugen Premiums which had over 39,000 miles of driving, I was never impressed with the Kumho tires as I thought they were noisy, but they were subjected to every type of inclement weather, which they did admirably but I was wanting a quieter tire, It was a toss-up between the Vredestein Quatrac Pro and Yokohama but the limited availability of the Vredestein tires here in the US I decided to go with the Yokohama Avid Ascend GT and I couldn’t be happier with our purchase, I even found them on sale for $160 per tire where our larger box stores were in the $200 range per tire. I noticed immediately a drop in road noise which I confirmed via a DB reader the Kumho was measured at 74db and the Yokohama verified on the same patch of road on the same day was 67db, no noticeable drop or rise in fuel economy, I also noticed better handling as well, the Yokohama seem to have better initial turn-in and far more overall grip than the Kumho as well… Wear will be the ultimate test as I only have 2000 miles on them where the Kumho had 39,000 miles with plenty of treads left but they were nearing 5 years of ownership and a recent collision with a ladder on a freeway resulted in us searching for a replacement set as one of the tires had a chunk taken out of the sidewall but it did get us home and I ordered a spare replacement which I kept and made it our spare tire and installed the 4 brand new Yokohama about a month afterward. “These are mounted on an after-market set of rims to New Zealand’s South Island for the winter ski season. From mid-June to early October. Only got them in August but I have done 5,000 km on them.

The impression when compared to the OEM Michelin Primacy 4 235/55r19 is a softer stickier compound that does indeed stay softer in lower temperatures such as frosty mornings. The Primacy gave me a couple of scary moments on early morning ice in June (winter down under) so I got the Hankooks for the colder weather.

Haven’t had them break loose yet! They are grippy in the dry and brand new in the wet too, possibly more so the pan the Primacy. Tread depth is 7.5mm in the central two grooves and interestingly only 7.0 mm in the outer two. The sipes are not full depth like the Primacy so the wet and snow grip may suffer as they wear. Snow grip was good on lightly dusted ski field roads, and also on a muddy slurry overlying gravel roads.

Noise is slightly higher than half-worn Primacy in the mid-frequency range I think but not obtrusive even in the EV.

The only thing that stops me from running them all year is the reduction in range. Consumption of power went down from 21 kWh per 100km (adjusted for the 3-4% greater tire size of the Hankooks) to about 18 when I swapped back to the Michelins.

The wheel plus tire weight is I think very similar when both tires are brand new. The Michelins have lost 500g in 40,000km (rotated) which is a loss of 3mm tread from the 6.5mm when new. The Hankooks averaging front and rear have worn about 0.5mm in 5000km but it’s hard to tell accurately yet.

So a good purchase for the winter weather here when we get little snow on the flat, just ice, and are required to use snow chains on ski field roads anyway if it snows.”Review1
